The Mediterranean Expeditionary Force comprised
five divisions: the British regular 29th Division; the Royal Naval Division;
the Australian & New Zealand Army Corps of two divisions (the 1st Australian
Division commanded by Major General Bridges, and the New Zealand & Australian
Division commanded by Major General Gedley); and a French division of the
Corps Expeditionnaire d'Orient.
The Australian & New Zealand Army Corps on Gallipoli was made up of
Australians and New Zealanders plus men of at least eight other countries
(Britain, Ceylon, India, Nepal, Egypt, Russia and Poland).

Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) and Hospital Ships,
Anxac Cove and Lemnos Island. Nurses served on the hospital ships and
at the 3rd Australian General Hospital on Lemnos. 25 nurses sailed with
the 1st Convoy, 126 nurses with the 2nd Convoy etc. Doctors served as
officers in the Field Ambulance units and as medical officers in each
battalion.
AE2. On 25 April submarine entered the Dardanelles. April 30 scuttled
and crew taken prisoners-of-war. Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train.
300 men, employed in support of landings in August at Suvla Bay, building
piers etc.
