Cappadocia Rugs and carpets, Goreme open air museum

DAY 18: MONDAY 8/5/2000

Off to see Goreme Open Air museum which is situated in the most famous of Cappadocia's valleys. Climbed up stairways to explore monastery churches with well preserved 11th century frescoes. Entered the church of St. Onurphusius  " Serpent Church " to view the fresco of St George fighting the dragon. Best of all was the Buckle church , which is the largest known rock church in the region and where the frescoes tell the story of Christ's life and the miracles that he worked.
