DAY 4: MONDAY 24.4.2000

Left Istanbul for a drive to Gallipoli Peninsula 332 km. Drove through beautiful country side and little sea side villages popular with holiday makers. Quite misty this morning, stopped for morning tea and saw lots of backpackers heading to the same place for Anzac Cove.

Found the grave we were looking for near that of Simpson's Grave Walked to Sharepnel Valley Cemetry so peaceful and pretty and drove up to the highest point where there is a statue of Ataturk and the New Zealand monument. Quite hot this afternoon and lots more tourists. Glad to get back to Gelibolu for tea.
